This week, the African Theatre #ArtistSpotlight shines on Zaïnabou Ba (Zai Niass) a Senegalese actress and cultural administrator. 🇸🇳
She first discovered her passion for theatre in high school, performing with the troupe Aimé Césaire at Thiaroye High School. After earning her bachelor's degree, she pursued law studies, but theatre remained her true calling. As a member of the troupe Espoir de la Banlieue, she honed her craft and performed in several productions.
In 2016, she joined BRRR Production, where she played Juliette in an adaptation of Romeo and Juliette (2016), followed by La Maison de Bernarda Alba (2018). Her artistic journey also includes appearances in films and television series.
At the Daniel Sorano National Theatre, she has collaborated with renowned directors such as Seyba Traoré (La Malédiction de Raabi, African Dawn, Les Bouts de Bois de Dieu) and Benjamin Jules Rosette (Le Zoulou by Tchicaya U Tam'si).
In 2024, she graduated in Cultural Animation from ENAMC. She continues her theatre career with BRRR Production, most recently performing as Bridget in Brian Friel's Traductions, which is currently running.
