L’Honneur Perdu de Khadija Loum

Adapted from The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum by Nobel Prize-winning author Heinrich Böll

Summary : Khadija Loum leads a quiet and discreet life. A domestic worker employed by Mr and Mrs Ba, an influential couple, her life is turned upside down when she falls in love with Lamine Faye, a man wanted by the authorities. Out of love, she helps him escape. Very quickly, the affair becomes a national scandal. Questioned by the police and hounded by the media and social networks, her private life is exposed and distorted. As rumours and false information spread online, her honour and reputation are gradually destroyed. In the end, she is judged less for her actions than for who she is: an independent woman in a deeply patriarchal society.
Adapted from The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum by Nobel Prize-winning author Heinrich Böll, this play explores, with humour and absurdity, the power and violence of the new media and the place of women in society.
